Abstract- The rapid shift to online learning, driven by technological advancements and the COVID-19 pandemic, has significantly affected students worldwide. This paper explores the effects of online learning on students’ health and academic performance, highlighting both positive and negative outcomes. Through a review of existing literature, it assesses how factors like mental health, physical well-being, and learning outcomes are influenced by remote education. Some studies reported improved academic performance due to the flexibility and accessibility of online learning, enabling students to learn at their own pace. However, other studies highlighted challenges such as decreased engagement and isolation, and reduced interaction with instructors and peers. According to experts, excessive screen time can lead to mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and sleep problems. Due to a lack of face-to-face interaction, some students find it hard to focus during online classes. The physical absence of teachers or classmates takes away the sense of urgency to attend classes on time, meet deadlines, and make progress. This could lead to procrastination and declining in academic performances and also have negative effects on their health.
