Abstract: The Modern Geese Theory (TMGT) is a philosophical and conceptual framework developed to explain the behavioural foundations of sustainable institutional achievement. The theory emerged from the recognition that, despite substantial advances in organizational and leadership scholarship, many institutions continue to experience fragmented collaboration, weak collective responsibility, inadequate mutual support, and declining organizational cohesion. Existing theories provide valuable explanations of leadership, organizational systems, culture, learning, and cooperation, yet they do not explicitly integrate unity and critical concern as the two fundamental behavioural traits underpinning sustainable institutional achievement. This conceptual gap provided the scholarly justification for developing the Modern Geese Theory. The theory was developed using a philosophical and conceptual research design involving behavioural observation of migratory geese, critical review and synthesis of organizational literature, comparative theoretical analysis, conceptual reasoning, and logical integration. Philosophical foundations, theoretical assumptions, conceptual constructs, and behavioural propositions were systematically formulated to establish a coherent theoretical framework. The Modern Geese Theory contends that unity and critical concern are fundamental traits for sustainable institutional achievement. Unity aligns institutional members around a shared purpose through cooperation, mutual trust, coordinated action, and collective commitment, while critical concern promotes vigilance, proactive support, constructive accountability, shared responsibility, and timely intervention to safeguard institutional effectiveness. Leadership and communication strengthen the relationship between these behavioural traits and sustainable institutional achievement by facilitating organizational coordination, collaboration, and adaptive decision-making. The theory contributes to organizational scholarship by introducing critical concern as a distinct behavioural construct and integrating it with unity into a unified philosophical and conceptual framework. It further broadens organizational theory by demonstrating how carefully interpreted behavioural observations from nature can inspire rigorous conceptual development. The theory is applicable across educational institutions, business organizations, government agencies, healthcare institutions, faith-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, security institutions, and community organizations. The Modern Geese Theory provides a philosophically grounded, conceptually coherent, and practically applicable framework for understanding and strengthening sustainable institutional achievement. It also establishes a foundation for future empirical validation, comparative studies, cross-cultural research, and continued theoretical refinement, thereby contributing to the advancement of organizational and institutional scholarship.
