Abstract: The development of individuals and organisations remains a central concern across philosophy, educational management, leadership, organisational studies, psychology, and development studies. Although resilience and wisdom have been widely investigated within these disciplines, they have generally been conceptualised as independent constructs, resulting in fragmented explanations of progressive development. This conceptual separation creates a need for a broader philosophical framework capable of explaining how resilience and wisdom interact to promote sustainable individual and organisational advancement. This article develops the Honey Badger Theory, a nature-inspired philosophical framework that explains progressive individual and organisational development through the complementary interaction of resilience and wisdom. The theory was developed using a philosophical and conceptual theory-development approach that involved the systematic review and synthesis of philosophical, conceptual, theoretical, and empirical literature, together with the philosophical interpretation of scientifically documented behavioural characteristics of the honey badger (Mellivora capensis). Scientific observations were translated into conceptual constructs through a structured process of philosophical interpretation and conceptual analysis. The Honey Badger Theory contends that resilience and wisdom are fundamental, complementary, and mutually reinforcing attributes that promote progressive individual and organisational development. Resilience provides the capacity to persevere, adapt, recover, and sustain purposeful action in the face of adversity, whereas wisdom provides ethical judgment, reflective thinking, contextual understanding, and strategic direction that guide resilient action towards meaningful and sustainable outcomes. Progressive development is therefore explained as the continuous interaction of these complementary attributes. The theory contributes to scholarship by integrating resilience and wisdom within a unified philosophical framework, advancing a systematic methodology for nature-inspired theory development, and providing practical applications in educational management, leadership, organisational development, public administration, entrepreneurship, community development, and professional practice. It also establishes a conceptual foundation for future empirical research aimed at validating and refining its propositions across diverse cultural, institutional, and disciplinary contexts.
