Impact of Training and Development Programs on Employee Performance

Abstract: The importance of Training and development in developing human resource cannot be understated as far as ensuring competitiveness and sustainability of any enterprise is concerned. This particular paper analyzes the effect of training and development program on performance of employees by conducting an extensive quantitative analysis of 210 workers in different departments within the organization. The research uses descriptive research design based on survey methodology, performance measurements and various statistical calculations like correlation, regression and ANOVA. The results obtained show a positive relation (r=0.774) between participation in training and its impact on employee performance, since the efficiency increased by 17.3% among those who were systematically trained. Also, it was discovered that those employees trained had a spillover effect in terms of decreasing managers’ workload by 45%, allowing them to concentrate on strategic tasks. The research proved that there was a difference in effectiveness of the training and development program depending on its methods of application, period of time required and level of employee’s position, since blended learning approach showed the highest ROI coefficient equal to 245%.
